Trips

I can't sleep.  The anticipation of this summer's plans are keeping me awake, like quiet whispers of what is to come.  I find myself mindlessly reading blog after blog about the places I will visit, imagining a million different scenarios.  I am a tad morbid, so I have hidden a notebook with all of my passwords and online information, as well as insurance info and bank info, just in case something happens to me.  That being said, I have also planned so that if I choose to stay wherever I am, I can do so with very few loose ends.  As well as imagining what I will do if I were: being robbed, getting lost, falling in love, being sick and coming home early.

Summer always brought thousands of possibilities to light for me, so I am extremely excited for this one. This is the first summer that I will have barely enough income to splurge spend a little and enjoy luxuries such as my own bed or air conditioning (I still opted for sharesies and other people's homes on a few occasions, but the option was there to upgrade).

Follow along on this blog this summer as I travel around, and inevitably run into hilarious and trying times.  I might even post a photo or two, time permitting.

Here is what's on the itinerary for Summer 2014:

1. Iceland with my darling sister.  What a great send off for her, since she has just found out she will be moving to Abbottsford, B.C. in August.

2. Brighton, England and a smattering of London for one of my best friend's weddings and of course many wonderful memories to be made.  Who doesn't love celebrating love?

3. Cornwall, England, where I will third-wheel through my friend's honeymoon.  Don't worry, we got 2 separate rooms.  Seriously though, how great are they, that they are letting me tag along on their romantic getaway like some snot-nosed sibling?

4. Greece.  This one is a wild-card.  I am on my own, I don't speak a lick of the language and I am a hopelessly awkward person.  I can't wait to meet some fellow travellers and make spur-of the moment decisions! (Since I have only booked accomodations for the first 5 days I am there.)

5. The long trek home. Somehow I managed to book in a way that stretches it over 3 days!  WHAT WAS I THINKING!?  Actually, I know what I was thinking.  I was thinking I should drag my feet and spend another day in each place I visited... but seriously, what is wrong with me?

6. Road trip to BC to camp in the beautiful forests and swim in the amazing lakes.

There is so much to look forward to, and there will be a total of 9 days spent at home this summer, before we return to school, but I am giddy like and elementary kid the day before her birthday.

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald
